What Crystal Cabinet Works is
Crystal Cabinet Works is a family-owned custom cabinet manufacturer based in Princeton, Minnesota. It sells through independent kitchen and bath dealers in the United States and Canada, and says it builds every cabinet to the customer's specifications.
Crystal suits homeowners who have outgrown a catalog: an exact finish match, a custom door, inset construction, or a kitchen that has to fit an unusual room precisely.
Affordable Custom and Premium Custom
Crystal organizes its cabinetry into two groups:
- Affordable Custom: the Current, Current Inset and Frameless Current series, in framed, inset or frameless construction
- Premium Custom: the Keyline series (framed, with inset styling available) and the Encore series (frameless), with custom finish matching, custom doors and special accessories
Construction
Crystal publishes its construction details by series:
- Keyline and Encore: natural maple veneer over NAF (no added formaldehyde) plywood
- Current and Frameless Current: natural maple melamine over particleboard, with a plywood upgrade available
- Framed series: a 3/4-inch solid wood face frame
- All series: dovetailed drawers with 5/8-inch solid hardwood sides, front and back, on concealed under-mount, full-extension, soft-close guides
- Finish: an oven-cured, catalyzed conversion varnish topcoat, with a larger palette of stains and paints in Keyline and Encore than in Current
Planning a custom kitchen
Custom cabinetry rewards early decisions. Settle appliance sizes, the sink and the range hood before the cabinet drawings are final, and choose your countertop slab early too, since slab size and veining affect where seams fall. Expect more design rounds than with a semi-custom line.
How buying Crystal through us works
- Visit a showroom in Tysons, Manassas or Front Royal to talk through door styles, woods and finishes. Call ahead to confirm which Crystal samples are on display.
- We measure, design the layout and price it, and can compare Affordable Custom with Premium Custom on the same plan.
- We order the cabinets and install them with our own crews.
- Countertops are templated on the installed cabinets and cut in our own shop.
Crystal cabinets are covered by the manufacturer's own warranty. Ask us for the terms.

Is Crystal Cabinet Works custom or semi-custom?
Crystal describes itself as a custom cabinet manufacturer and says it builds every cabinet to the customer's specifications. That is the main difference from the other lines we carry: in the Premium Custom series, Crystal can match a finish you bring, create a custom door and build special accessories. Custom work takes more design time, so start planning early.
Does Crystal offer inset and frameless cabinets?
Yes. Crystal's Affordable Custom group includes the Current series in framed and inset versions and Frameless Current. In Premium Custom, Keyline is the framed series, with inset styling available, and Encore is frameless. We help you choose the construction that suits the look you want and the room it has to fit, then price it on your layout.
What is the difference between Crystal's Affordable Custom and Premium Custom?
Affordable Custom covers the Current series, framed, inset or frameless, with a standard particleboard box and a plywood upgrade. Premium Custom covers Keyline and Encore, built on NAF plywood with maple veneer and a larger palette of stains and paints, plus custom finish matching and custom doors. We can price both on your layout.
Do you install Crystal cabinets?
Yes. We measure the room, design the layout, order the cabinets and install them with our own crews. Custom cabinets deserve careful setting and scribing, and our fabricators then template the installed cabinets and cut your countertops in our own shop, so cabinets and tops stay with one team.
